Low Key Glorietta in High Notes

When you set your expectations low, you'll never regret. At least, that's my belief lately. It's scary at first seeing Glorietta lacking the usual Regine worshippers. But as the show time nears, voila! - the venue's filled. Maybe we're known for the Filipino time as evident in most of Regine's shows. It's never too late to change and kudos to Glorietta's Events management team for being on time. The humongous Swatch reminded them very well that time is indeed money.

This will be a series of entries since the videos recorded are in .MOV files. Converting the files is a tedious task. For this entry, I'll have a video of her most applauded performance. We all know that the album has a laid back theme. Good thing they played with the repertoire and didn't just stick with the album tracks. If they did, Regine could have lulled us to sleep.

Regine sang 11 songs from the album's 18 tracks. A very generous performance. This version's sang definitely in HIGH notes. Enjoy!

DIVAS Sucked!

It's a brand new year. I should be full of positive thoughts and feelings. But welcoming the new year and finding out that the divastation uploads were gone is definitely, not a Happy scenario. I'm getting tired of all these uploads. On the other hand, I'd like to see a silver lining. I've made some people Happy! I've accomplished even a small percentage of my original plan. Music is all about sharing. I guess, I can consider that as charity work for this year, which will eventually earn me some good karma especially to Regine worshippers.

Charice is good. She may not be the best belter that we have in our country,but she managed to do something that most teens can't do - adults as well. She's born to perform. She performed when needed. She didn't falter in extreme pressure given by the media or simply by the people surrounding her. She managed to SHINE in every occasion.

Divas 4 Divas a Major DIVAstation

Based on my previous entry about hard economic times, I did my best not to give in to my wants. I meant, I would love to splurge for these 4 Divas. But I need to tame myself. On second thought, being offered by scalpers 50% discount on high end tickets is such a welcome temptation. If they were just early, I would have surrendered to such offers.

I intentionally did not read any articles nor watch any tv appearances when they were promoting this show. I wanted to watch the show with ZERO expectations. Honestly, I believe that Rowell Santiago's resignation as the show's director, was purely a marketing gimmick. So there's an effective formula for creating a much needed buzz for this once in a lifetime concert. Look at the picture and see for yourself.




So where do I begin? I used to be very detailed and unforgiving in my reviews before. But since I'd like to be interactive, I'll let the vids and the pics narrate what really transpired during the show. Now, please be forgiving since am not in the best seating position and for strategic recording purposes. I can't be in front seats and blatantly record the entire show. I'd like to pay Respect to GMA since the show will be televised this month. For sure there will be additional graphics that will be incorporated when they release this on tv. So, please be content with an amateur video. The main purpose is to share to those less fortunate Songbird worshippers, fans, friends and loved ones of the other Divas worldwide. I am not in any manner, intends to jeopardize this TV Special.

False alarm! Here's the Real Opening - We Will Rock You, Queen of the Night & Free Your Mind. The outfits remind me of Christian Siriano of Project Runway Season 4.





So the opening number's just like one of those overtly used medleys. I was scared that it'll be predictable. Not until they played the chords of I'll Be There --- it turned out to be Beautiful!

Charice Pempengco @ Eastwood City

Seeing Charice's Billboard made me realize that she's like a younger version of a veteran actress. Voila! Her face reminds me of Chanda Romero. She's being tagged as a world phenomenon. Oprah simply calls her the World's Most Talented Kid. A part of me gets confused and disoriented whenever i hear this phrase. How can a 15 or a 16 yr old be considered a KID?

Now, I can't help but notice Charice's fascination with hats. It's just soo 90's, reminiscent of the late Ten Ten Munoz and Regine in her younger years. The only fashion accessory missing are those overtly thick shoulder pads. She should stop using those hats especially in humid venues. Also, she should consider sporting other clothing labels. Snoopy is just a brand for kids and pre-teens. She must learn to evolve. I'm sure that she will---soon.

I'm still editing and will soon be uploading the videos. So for the meantime, I will just rant and rave.

so why Regine Hates Twilight!

The story originates from a young adult vampire book series written by Stephenie Meyer. The plot of the book revolves around a young girl who moves to Forks, Washington and falls in love with a vampire. Without knowing anything about the background or origins of Twilight, it certainly seemed like something I’d be interested in.

The girl is played by Kristin Stewart, who you might remember recently from Jumper or even in her pre-adult stint as Sarah Altman in the movie Panic Room. The vampire she falls in love with is Robert Pattinson, who played Cedrick Diggory in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

So what has Regine got to do with this movie? Honestly, Nada! It's a wishful thinking, some form of delusion that someday she'll be part of the movie's soundtrack. How some of her songs in the Low Key Album ( Tell Me That You Love Me, I'd Rather Leave While I'm In Love) can be very applicable in some of the movie's scenes. Dream on! Dream --- AWAY!

Regine in her current state of being IN Love might find the movie's theme of Love transcending Forever, as something worth aspiring for. I can hear her song To Reach You as background music. I can even hear What Kind of Fool Am I as Bella's theme. I can definitely imagine What You Are to Me as one of the appropriate songs for the soundtrack.The movie for now, is presents itself in the most simple manner.

Something not soo overwhelming, especially to viewers like me, who have not read the series of Books yet.


Love is indeed, a very strong force of nature. Now, with the advancement in nanotechnology. It won't be impossible for the human race to REALLY decipher the REAL existence of Vampires. Hopefully, this will lessen the interest to these immortals. If not, total annihilation of such existence in the annals of human history.

As for the hopeless romantics, this movie capitalizes on the same formula that the movie Titanic used. Stars that look almost like demi gods--- that can launch millions of $$$ in the box office worldwide.

I'm starting my countdown. I'm sure that the book's plot will be used by the big networks (ABS-CBN & GMA). If not, by TV 5, who managed to Filipinize the hit series Gossip Girl. God HELP us! I just hope and pray that Filipino writers in the entertainment industry can be more innovative with their stories and concepts.

As for me, I'm not afraid that Regine will someday be part of a project that is huge in its commercial aspect (exposure wise). Something similar to what Charice Pempengco has been enjoying lately. The big question --- Is Regine AFRAID?

Needs are created by the media in order to entice buyers into purchasing more for the current year than the previous year. No one's to be disappointed at Christmas, after all. There's a blatant manipulation to the viewing public. And who can bring themselves to crush the psyche of anyone by not giving them all they want?

The end result of all of this is "HAPPINESS." The receivers (viewers) of the presents are happy and the merchandisers (concert producers) are happy. The media people are happy and the credit card people are happy. Everything and Everyone is HAPPY during Christmas.

Regine has always been grateful having wonderful and supportive parents. She can't thank them enough for the gift of music. She can only show them her sincere appreciation through this song... More than words can say. She might as well do it in this manner -- You'll Never Know it must be Mommy V's and Mang Gerry's fave song.





Taking advantage of the situation, Regine promoted her new album - LOW KEY. She just focused on the album's selling point - 17 beautifully arranged (FRESH) love songs and a Christmas song by Jim Brickman. A good Christmas gift for one's listening and singing indulgence, since it comes with a Minus One. A free poster... What more can you ask for??? So here's the carrier single ---










It's just unfortunate that the It Might Be You recording was corrupted. This song is rarely performed by Regine. To think that it's the Patti Austin version. How Sad... really sad. I just hope that within this week, somebody will share his or her vid or audio file. PLEASE!!!
